Patient Rights
Brazilian law guarantees patients with cancer and other serious diseases some special rights, such as:
Exemption from income tax on retirement pensions
Exemption from taxes on vehicle purchases (IPI, ICMS, IPVA, IOF)
Exemption from paying public transport fares
The ability to drawing on funds saved under Brazilian employment law (FGTS)
The ability to draw on Private Company/Government Employee Funds (PIS/PASEP)
Sickness benefits, when the patient is considered temporarily unable to work
Acquittance from finance for home ownership, as long as the patient has total and permanent disability caused by the disease.
