Multidisciplinary Team
A multidisciplinary environment
In addition to doctors and nurses, the multidisciplinary team at Hospital viValle hospital includes Physiotherapy, Psychology and Nutrition areas, developing out of the need to integrate these professionals in pursuit of full patient recovery.
It is for this reason that interdisciplinary work in hospitals involves the interaction of team members in search of better quality of life for patients, achieving immediate, consistent and beneficial results not only for patients but also for their family members.
Physiotherapy
The Physiotherapy team at Hospital ViValle is made up of professionals who are specialized in various areas, working in the prevention and treatment of cancer, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and neurological complications. This minimizes the effects of immobility and also promotes sensory, motor and mental integration.
Treatment is based on specific protocols using therapeutic procedures, including exercise for the restoration of motor and respiratory functions to optimize the success of the therapy, allowing patients a faster recovery, reducing complications and hospitalization time.
The service is provided at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the inpatient unit and the Emergency Room.
Nutrition
This sector provides assistance to patients focusing on the maintenance or recovery of their nutritional status.
Initial visits are made, in which the patient undergoes triage, and their degree of nutritional risk is evaluated according to laboratory tests, weight history and eating habits. An individual diet is then prescribed, according to the nutritional diagnosis and procedures are performed during hospitalization.
When patients are discharged from hospital, they take with them dietary guidance to follow carefully at home.
Psychology
Every disease has a meaning and impact on people's lives and on those around them.
It is known that the hospital environment may, in itself, generate intense anxiety and stress, both for patients and their families. Based on this presupposition, the hospital psychology service at viValle seeks to work fully with the patient and their family, in an individual and patient-centered manner.
Patient care begins with the request of the attending physician, the multidisciplinary team, family or the patient himself or herself. The goal is to control anxiety and facilitate communication with the entire team attending. A well-advised patient becomes more involved and active during treatment. This happens in every sector of the hospital, with a special focus on oncology and the ICU.
The service provided to family members aims to advise them so they can monitor the entire hospitalization process in a more relaxed manner and are so able to provide the support needed at this time.
