viValle: growing through technology, quality and patient-centeredness
Hospital viValle's recognition as a benchmark in healthcare is the result of a hard work and dedication.
Opened in 1980, in Vila Adyana, Sao Jose dos Campos (Sao Paulo state), and led by Dr. Paulo Mauricio Chagas Bruno, Gastroclinica became a benchmark for the entire Paraiba Valley region. Such recognition and consolidation meant that growth was essential.
In the mid 1990s a plot of land was acquired in Urbanova, Sao Jose dos Campos. Hospital Gastroclinica, focused on gastroenterological services, was built in a green area and opened in 2000, with 35 beds - 29 overnight-stay beds and 6 in the Day Hospital / Emergency Care.
And so it was that the Paraiba Valley gained a concept in medical treatment: modern, well-equipped, patient-centered, and - above all - efficient.
Two years later the Center for Obesity was opened, performing the first bariatric (stomach reduction) surgery in the Paraiba Valley. In 2002, the eight-bed ICU was opened, taking the number of beds to 43 in total. Designed to the highest standards in patient-centeredness, the ICU at viValle provides private rooms with TV, extended visiting hours and psychological support for patients and family members. All this care led to the ICU being integrated the following year into the Quality in Intensive Care (QuaTI) System.
2003 saw another important milestone in the management of the hospital, namely its joining of the National Association of Private Hospitals (ANAHP).
2005 saw the opening of the viValle Institute for Teaching and Research (IEP viValle), a non-profit institute that fosters scientific and technological knowledge for professionals from around the region. IEP viValle has a structure that can o host activities related to teaching, research and scientific studies.
The following year a major achievement was celebrated, when the hospital was fully accredited by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA). In addition, it became a member of the Latin American Sepsis Institute (Ilas).
In 2006 Gastroclinica changed its name to Hospital viValle, an in addition to gastroenterology it started to provide services in every medical specialty, becoming a general hospital.
Since then viValle has constantly expanded its services and extended its facilities, adding the orthopedics service and the Clinical and Surgical Oncology Center.
In 2007 Hospital viValle began to implement a Master Plan that will guide the institution's growth over the next five years. In this period, R$ 51 million will be invested in expansion and new equipment.
In 2008, Ambulatorio viValle also changed its name, to viValle Medical Center, offering consultations in various specialties. Later that year viValle Check-up was launched, focused on preventive medicine. Patient assessment takes only half a day, and tests are scheduled to streamline procedures, reducing the time spent at the hospital and delivering fast results.
In the first half of 2009, viValle completed the zero phase of the Master Plan. As a result, the hospital increased the number of hospital and emergency room beds by 30%, built a new relaxation area, a new dedicated reception for admittances, new changing rooms for employees, enlarged the administrative areas and made improvements to the Emergency Room and ICU support areas.
In 2010 the occupational medicine service, Pro-saude (Pro-Health) was launched, focusing on company employee healthcare, ensuring peace of mind and technical expertise in the management of occupational medical examinations and care, providing the necessary technology to perform accurate and fast diagnoses, coupled with excellence in service.
In 2011 the Master Plan project has continued, refurbishing 100 m² of the hospital and extending the Emergency Room by 40m², so adding to the number of beds by 50%. In the second half of 2011 the Hemodynamic and Cardiovascular Intervention section will be built, in addition to the expansion of the Hospital unit itself.
The upcoming phases include the expansion of the Surgical Center, the ICU, a new Oncology Center, and the construction of a new façade and reception area.
With the completion of the Master Plan, viValle will have been expanded from its current 4,500 m² to 14,200 m², and will have increased the number of beds by 300%, to 160.
